In Conversation: Insights From the Virayo Team

We talked with Laura about jumping into the fray at Virayo and enjoyed learning more about her skills and talents. Here are some highlights of our conversation.

Q: Can you tell us more about what your role involves?

HR, Accounting, Employee Milestones, Gifts, EA to the CEO

Q: What are some of your favorite parts of what you do?

I love coming up with milestone gifts for employee events/appreciation. I also love hearing wins from the team when they’ve had success in their roles.

Q: What’s been the biggest learning opportunity in your role so far?

Definitely accounting. I thought I knew Quickbooks I really didn’t. Haha

Q: Do you have any particular accomplishments you are most proud of?

Really just diving into this role after a quick whirlwind of training and trying to keep everything running smoothly.

Q: Now let’s talk Virayo. What’s unique about working for our organization?

It’s exciting to have people all over the US and in Australia on the team. It also seems like everyone is very open and transparent about what they’re doing.

Q: Our team takes our values seriously. Which one(s) resonate with you the most?

Authenticity – I think it’s important to bring yourself to your position, and not try and be someone you’re not, just to “fit” into a role. I want to get to know everyone more and all of their unique personalities.

Q: What’s your favorite aspect(s) of our culture and team dynamic?

The support that everyone gives each other.

Q: Now let’s have a little fun! Do you have any secret talents?

I am an amazing hula hooper and I’m shockingly good at parallel parking.

Q: On any given random day, what’s going on behind the scenes during our team huddle?

I will always have a hot mug of English Breakfast tea from Samovar, some sort of classical music or film scores playlist on, a heater blasting at my feet, and lip balm on my desk at the ready.

Q: Last question! What are you most looking forward to in the coming year?

Helping the Virayo team grow and bringing the team together for fun (remote) events!
