In Conversation: Insights From the Virayo Team
We talked with Erin about her role in content writing and brand strategy, and enjoyed learning about her creative process and contributions to our podcast. Here are some highlights of our conversation.
Q: Can you tell us more about what your role involves?
My role encompasses both client and internal content creation. As our primary writer, I create briefs, outlines, drafts, and refreshes for SEO content across a wide range of B2B SaaS clients. Recently, my role has expanded to include internal content creation, where I support Virayo’s brand through graphic design, social media management, and other marketing efforts.
Q: What are some of your favorite parts of what you do?
As a storyteller at heart, I love creating things that connect people and ideas. One of my favorite parts of my job is telling the story of how a product or service can solve a problem. Whether that’s writing an article or solution page for clients to show how their products can transform their customers’ lives or crafting a LinkedIn carousel for Virayo to demonstrate how SEO can drive B2B SaaS growth, I thrive on creating narratives that really connect. Connection and stories are what bind us all, and I’m grateful to use my talents in writing, design, and strategy to support that mission.
Q: What’s been the biggest learning opportunity in your role so far?
Expanding into social media and launching our company podcast has been a huge learning opportunity! I dove headfirst into social media management and quickly learned to identify and define ICPs, develop personas, create engagement strategies, and tailor content for different platforms. The fast-paced nature of social media keeps me on my toes, ensuring that I’ll always be learning.
Launching Virayo’s podcast, Build + Scale, has been a completely new challenge that pushed both Robbie and me out of our comfort zones in a great way. From initial ideation and naming to learning about video and audio editing and episode planning, jumping into podcasting has opened a whole new world of opportunity. Both of these experiences have broadened my skill set and given me a deeper understanding of how to effectively communicate and connect with our audience.
Q: Do you have any particular accomplishments you are most proud of?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been witnessing the growth of brand awareness for Virayo. It’s been exciting to see our LinkedIn engagement and following increase as a result of our efforts. Another highlight was launching our podcast. As soon as the first episode went live, it felt like a beacon of opportunity, revealing a bright future of possibilities.
It’s also incredibly fulfilling to hear about our clients’ successes and know that my work for their blog or website contributes to their growth. Recently, I had the thrill of delivering a draft for a new client that was met with enthusiastic approval and exceeded all of their expectations. That kind of feedback is both gratifying and motivating.
Q: Now let’s talk Virayo. What’s unique about working for our organization?
We’re a small, dynamic, and supportive team that rolls with the punches and never gives up! We give each other room to grow and trust each other with the autonomy and freedom to do our best work in a way that fits within our lives. This encourages us to be the best we can be both professionally and personally. I mean, where else can you both meditate and throw axes with your team? The genuine support and camaraderie make Virayo a truly unique and fulfilling place to work.
Q: Our team takes our values seriously. Which one(s) resonate with you the most?
Authenticity and Confidence — I think these two go hand in hand and support the rest (Excellence, Determination, and Leadership). When you are fully and authentically yourself, you’re naturally confident in your presence and abilities, which creates the environment for servant leadership. Combined with determination, this leads to excellence.
Q: What’s your favorite aspect(s) of our culture and team dynamic?
What makes Virayo truly special is the supportive and collaborative spirit of our team:
Jarod, our CEO, motivates me to grow through his encouragement and honest feedback, whether it’s about a meditation practice or really owning a project.
Our Co-Founder and Marketing Director, Robbie, has been an invaluable partner in building the podcast and demonstrates persistence in tackling difficult challenges (and time zones!).
Ryan, our Operations Manager, exemplifies respectful collaboration; we’ve had productive discussions even when we didn’t initially agree, and always support each other.
Our SEO Account Manager, Jake from Virayo, has a humor and generosity (and shared love of Hallmark Christmas movies!) that made me feel welcome from the start and always lightens the day.
Working with our Senior Content Manager, Jenny, has been a partnership filled with creativity and mutual support; we’ve tackled tough projects and refined processes while always having each other’s backs.
Laura, our newest team member in Executive Admin, is always incredibly kind and supportive, organizing team events and sending encouraging messages and gifts to bind us together.
Every member of the Virayo team brings a unique set of skills, and together, we create a supportive, exciting, and dynamic workplace.
Q: Now let’s have a little fun! Do you have any secret talents?
I’m surprisingly good at rhyming on the fly! I can whip up a cheesy poem or quick song in no time. Similarly, I can beat the pants off most people on most word games.
I also have the odd talent of moving one eyeball independently of the other, which is perfect for freaking my kids out. 😉
Q: On any given random day, what’s going on behind the scenes during our team huddle?
I’m usually sipping something caffeinated (iced coffee or hot tea, mostly!) and fiddling with something at my desk, like my Speks or one of my Stranger Things mini Funko Pops. If it’s summer and my kids are home (like now), I’m probably also fending off tiny intruders trying to steal from my candy dish! Otherwise, there’s probably a kitty on my lap.
Q: Last question! What are you most looking forward to in the coming year?
I’m looking forward to continued growth, both in my role and as a company. We’ve worked hard over the last year to refine and strengthen our team and processes, planting the seeds for future success. I’m excited to see how these efforts bear fruit and what new opportunities and achievements lie ahead for Virayo. The potential for innovation and progress is truly inspiring, and I can’t wait to be a part of it all.
